In the past, businesses could reach a large enough audience by advertising through TV commercials, radio, billboards, etc. Today, that type of marketing alone will not fly. Social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and others, keep people connected at all times of the day. People can be updated about the news, their families, and events all by scrolling down one page. Social media has not only changed the daily habits of the average consumer, but it has also pushed businesses to join these online communities.

This can be a huge time saver for any company that wants to keep up a posting schedule. When working with this type of software, it can be easy to go overboard on posting to different platforms. Although posting content regularly is important, be wary of posting spam. Find the balance between informing your followers and not annoying them. One to two posts a day on one platform is sufficient, but four or more is pushing it.
Along with finding a scheduling software, you should find time in your own schedule to log into your platforms to personally interact with customers and influencers. This can be in the form of: answering questions, finding relevant Twitter chats, or hosting Google+ Hangouts. By doing so, you will invite customers into the conversation. The feeling of acknowledgement can be a powerful motivator for users. Social media gives a company the opportunity to make users feel like they are a part of something greater. Even with daily posting you can add pictures, captions and videos that will pull the user’s attention away from all the other clutter on the internet. The great thing about social media is that you can get creative with it. When I create social media posts, I make sure to add in funny captions, gifs, or memes that will entertain as well as inform the user (when in doubt, puppy pictures are always the way go to.) The key is to make each post simple, memorable, and inviting. And don’t forget the hashtags! Adding a hashtag will categorize your content, so that it is easier for people to find you when looking for that common connection.
Power Couple: Search and Social
Search and social have become very closely connected. Nowadays, many consumers will take to social media platforms to search for the credibility and trustworthiness of a brand. So, it is critical to use the right social media platforms to connect with your target audience. Your posts should consist of social media posts that will inform and catch the attention of the user. To identify your audience, you should ask: What are their interests and pain points? What demographic are you trying to reach? What other topics are people sharing on social networks? By honing in on what is important to the target audience, you can create the right message on social media.
So, where can you find media that will complement your posts? There are many websites where you can find free images, and by clicking here you can find a comprehensive list of them. Once you find the perfect picture, you can add to the post with little design skills necessary. My favorite software to use is Canva, which allows you to add text, shapes, and designs. It does have a small picture library as well, but I suggest just uploading your own for free. It may take you a while to discover all the features, but with a little time and effort you will be creating designs that are fit for the Louvre!
